Hi, I'm Shelley

Welcome to Rocking the Playroom!

Here you'll find songs for babies, toddlers and preschoolers that you can sing whenever you feel like it.

There are also more structured Playschool Activities that parents or teachers could do as a playtime activity.

And finally, there are the Playschool Lessons, which group a few Playschool Activities together and follow the themes that the kids are doing at my local playschool.

Baby Bible Class Parachute Song

Baby Bible Class Parachute Song

It's my turn to do Baby Bible Class this Sunday, so I thought I'd bring my parachute along and we could sing a song about God's love while doing some big movements with the parachute. The children are between 6 months and about 3 years old, and I can rely on the help of their parents to keep the parachute under control (not always the case with my unaccompanied pre-schoolers! :))

You can see the words of the song we'll sing below, and I've given you some ideas for movements in [square brackets].

Baby Bible Class Parachute Song

To the tune of "Here we go round the mulberry bush"

[Hold the parachute and walk to the left in a circle]
Here we go round the parachute,
the parachute, the parachute
Here we go round the parachute
With our friends in Bible Class

[Hold the parachute and walk to the right in a circle]
This is the way God’s love goes round,
God’s love goes round, God’s love goes round
This is the way God’s love goes round
To our friends in Bible Class

[Slowly lift the parachute up for the first two lines. Lower it quite quickly and then lift it slowly again for the rest of the verse]
This is the way our prayers go up,
our prayers go up, our prayers go up
This is the way our prayers go up
As we pray in Bible Class

[Slowly lift the parachute up for the first two lines, then lower it quite quickly and then lift it slowly again for the rest of the verse]
This is the way He rose again,
He rose again, He rose again
This is the way He rose again
On that Easter morning

[Start with the parachute held up above the children’s heads, then slowly bring the parachute down for the first two lines. Repeat for the second two lines]
This is the way God’s love comes down,
God’s love comes down, God’s love comes down
This is the way God’s love comes down
On our friends in Bible Class

[Shake the parachute gently – or vigorously if the kids have their way! J]
This is the way we love each other,
Love each other, love each other
This is the way we love each other,
With our friends in Bible Class

[Get the children to stand under the parachute while the adults hold it just above their heads. Lift the parachute quickly, as you play a kind of “peekaboo”]
This is the joy we find in God, [peekaboo]
we find in God, we find in God [peekaboo]
This is the joy we find in God [peekaboo]
With our friends in Bible Class

[Get the children to lie down under the parachute while the adults shake the parachute gently above them]
This is the way we rest in Him,
we rest in Him, we rest in Him
This is the way we rest in Him
With our friends in Bible Class

I'm sure you could come up with a few more verses and actions as well - perhaps based on a seasonal event like Christmas or Palm Sunday... Go on, leave a comment with your verse!
